What is love?

The news is full of Christians doing things i find obnoxious.  Some pastor in Florida is advocating burning of the Koran.  Sigh.

It does often seem to me that some Christians feel that hate is justified when they are dealing with people who somehow threaten their faith, or that threaten the "purity" of the Church, or something.  It bothers me a great deal, especially as we all folks carrying the name "Christian" tend to be tarred with the same brush.

(This portion of this post has been removed.  I wasn't sensitive to the conversation with a family member in writing it and it has been sent into the ether.)

Lord, please let me love more.  Please give me the love i need to share.  Please help me to know how to share love & not let it be simply something within.  Please help me to find ways to let the ones i love know that i care, & help me to love them more.

Hi Kathryn, thank you for note.

Thank God Terry Jone s has called off the Koran burning party. Already a church in India had received a blow up threat. Answering hate with hate is the work of the devil.

May the relationship between you an d Larkin improve with communication and perhaps meeting one another from time to time. You took extra pains to contact her, that is clear.

Perhaps spending time with her kids will help.

There wa s a lack of communication with my younger sis Namrita, basically because she is an introvert, but after she visited in the winter with he r boys, we are communicating much better.

I'm glad to learn he isn't going to do it, Amrita. You're the only person i've heard that from. I so hope you are right.

Larkin is herself. If communication improves, it will be because she chooses. I've tried, & all i can do is wait on her own timing.

I'm glad things are better with you & your sis. That is good news. :)

Hi Kathryn, I'm glad I finally took time to read other people's blogs again because I especially appreciated yours over the past weeks. This one is really sweet and earnest and yearning. I pray God will give you the desires of your heart, both in loving more deeply (I pray that for me, too) and for a healing of the ripped edges of your relationship with your sister.

I want to respond to your last few posts with something I read in Our Daily Bread on August 16. It seems so relevant. (Don't know the author): You have to work hard to offend Christians. By nature, Christians are the most forgiving, understanding, and thoughtful group of people I've ever dealt with. They never assume the worst. They appreciate the importance of having different perspectives. They're slow to anger, quick to forgive, and almost never make rash judgments or act in anything less than a spirit of total love. . . No, wait--I'm thinking of golden retrievers!
